Help begets help

It was a summer day. An ant was thirsty and wanted to drink. There was a stream nearby. The ant rushed to the stream and began to drink. Just then a sudden wind blew the ant into the river. The ant tries to swim to the bank. But the current was too strong. “Help”, help!” the ant cried. “I am drowning.” A dove was sitting on a tree nearby. It heard the cry and took pity on the ant. With its beak it, at once, broken a leaf from the tree. Then it flew over the stream with the leaf and dropped it into the water in front of the ant. The ant climbed on the leaf and began to float until it came ashore. Thus the dove saved the ant…………………..

Some days passed by. A hunter was out for hunting. He came to the stream and found the dove on the tree. He wanted to hunt it. He was aiming at the dove. The ant saw this but the dove did not see the hunter. The ant remembered how it had been saved by the dove from drowning. The ant, at once, hurried to the hunter and bit him hardly on the leg when the hunter was about to shoot his arrow. The hunter missed his aim and the arrow hit the tree. The dove was saved from the danger and quickly flew away. The dove once saved the life of the ant. The ant also saved the life of the dove.
